About Our Client

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the development of category strategies, strategic sourcing activities and managing relationships with suppliers in order to achieve significant cost reductions, while maintaining and improving supplier service levels and product quality. Furthermore, you would be providing insights in best class sourcing and supplier management practices while working cooperatively in a cross-functional capacity with other areas within the company. This position reports to the Head of Procurement.

Job Description

  • Develop and manage a category strategy and rolling programme of areas that need to be addressed
  • Track actual versus forecasted benefits (such as savings) for the category and communicate the performance against these measures as well as the impact they have on the budget
  • Establish and lead the cross functional teams in order to manage the development and implementation of the procurement category strategy in agreement with internal customer departments and the Head of Procurement
  • Deliver the procurement category strategy, which includes sourcing activities that will generate benefits and achieve financial savings targets through bench-marking, insights, and analyzing procurement spend, supply markets, internal and external cost drivers and company standards
  • Identify and give recommendations on best practice procurement tools in order to implement and develop sourcing strategies
  • Lead, manage and foster relationships with internal and external suppliers, customers, external company counterparts, industry and trade associations in order to generate best practices to continually strengthen Category Expertise
  • Develop and deploy expertise within a particular area of spend in order to achieve value for money procurement solutions and provide support to the departments as required to ensure the company's best interests are promoted and protected
  • Make sure that the contracts comply with statutory and regulatory regimes, which include the company's policies, rules and regulations
  • Contribute to performance management by continuously developing and managing relationships with suppliers in order to build capacity, strengthen the control of the supply chain and promote a partnering approach to managing contracts
  • Ensure savings and efficiencies are achieved by leading procurement related negotiations
  • Support an overall framework for the Supplier Management process, which includes Supplier Segmentation, Supplier On-boarding, Scorecard Development, Performance Review and Joint Business Planning

The Successful Applicant

In order to be considered for the role, you need to possess the following:

  • University degree, ideally in business
  • Qualified in MCIPS
  • 8-10 years of work experience within a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of Procurement and Supply Chain Management
  • International exposure (have relevant work experience outside the UAE)
  • Experienced in working within a cross functional team environment or individually, while collaborating with and advising stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Fluent English (verbal and written)
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Results driven, strategic, strongly organised and able to operate within a fast paced environment with multiple priorities
  • Global experience is an asset
