Banking client in Doha
To manage and direct Collection, Risk, Credit Review and Information Security processes pertaining to the Credit & Risk Management by ensuring that the Bank's interests are given utmost importance and will constantly research and seek to apply leading practices within the Risk & Credit Review Department. The incumbent will also participate in the formulation of credit risk policies and procedures and in the implementation of a risk management framework.
Contribute to the formulation of the department's strategy and strategic goals based on the direction of the Collections, Risk and Credit Review Sections; oversee the implementation and performance of the strategy and periodically report on its performance to the Executive Director of Credit and Risk Management.
Contribute to the development of the department's strategic and operational budgets based on the planned expenditures of the Collections, Risk and Credit Review Sections; monitor the performance of the section's budget(s) and report to the Executive Director of Credit and Risk Management on a periodic basis.
Develop and maintain Risk Framework and policies and procedures which comply with leading practices and Qatar laws and regulations; ensure that policies and procedures are applied consistently
Lead the selection, installation and implementation of an effective and efficient system for handling collections and ensuring the existence of processes for timely updates of collector actions on customer accounts on the referenced system, review of reports generated from the system, etc.
Support the coordination of Risk management activity and provide technical support, including developing key performance indicators for risk management, implementing tracking mechanisms, monitoring performance against defined measures and producing concise and informative risk information and reports to the Executive Director of Credit and Risk Management.
Lead initiatives to select, implement and manage automated systems / MIS tools to manage Risks.
Coordinate with Credit Sub-Committee regarding the overall credit portfolio management of the Bank.
Maintain risk exposure based on the Bank's risk appetite.
Advising changes to credit policy based on lessons learned from the NPLs.
Lead the development and maintenance of Bank-wide Risk Appetite, Allocation of Economic Capital, and Risk Management Framework.
Lead the development and maintenance of risk policies related to Credit, Market and Operational Risks.
Monitor the bank's exposure to credit, market and operational risks in accordance with the Bank's risk appetite and escalate deviations to the Risk and Credit Committee
Manage operational risk efforts related to RCSAs, Risk Register / Loss Data Management, Business Continuity Planning and Information Security
Coordinate with the Section Heads to handle negotiations of large amounts/ problematic cases with the delinquent customers and negotiations involving high profile customers personally.
Mitigate credit loss and preserve value by taking appropriate action on a case-by-case basis.
Ensure that the Legal Department is consulted regarding potential problematic cases/ slow paying accounts and provide the required documentation so that timely action can be initiated for recovery of the overdue amounts.
Provide recommendations regarding classification and provision decisions and prepare specific provisions for NPLs.
Monitor the calculation loss given default (LGD), probability of default (PD) and exposure at default (EAD) parameters.
Provide timely and accurate information to the external and internal auditors and the Compliance function as and when required.
Keep track of significant Credit Collections related issues that may jeopardise the achievement of Bank goals.
Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for Section Heads and Regulatory Authorities and Agencies, as and when applicable.
Review bank-wide policies and procedures with respect to risks. Identify control weaknesses and suggest adequate controls.
Oversee information security incident response planning as well as the investigation of information security breaches, and assist with disciplinary and legal matters associated with such breaches as necessary.
Review and challenge the output and activities of the Head of Risk.
Oversee the development, implementation and management of Business Continuity and monitor the adequacy of disaster recovery plans.
The Successful Applicant
Minimum 11-12 years of experience in Corporate Banking, Risk Management or relevant function with 5-6 years of experience in a similar role preferably in a Gulf/Local bank
