About Our Client

This role will be responsible for developing category and sub-category strategies, leading procurement projects, supporting the Category Manager in developing category plans and programmes, providing procurement expertise throughout the procurement cycle, handling the negotiation, managing relationships with suppliers, analyzing and acting on spend data to achieve savings, and contributing to internal and external capacity building.

Job Description

  • Develop and manage a category strategy (IT category - hardware and software)
  • Track actual versus forecasted benefits (such as savings) for the IT category and communicate the performance against these measures as well as the impact they have on the budget
  • Establish and lead the cross functional teams in order to manage the development and implementation of the procurement category strategy in agreement with the IT department and the Head of Procurement
  • Deliver the procurement category strategy, which includes sourcing activities that will generate benefits and achieve financial savings targets through benchmarking, insights, and analysing procurement spend, supply markets, internal and external cost drivers and company standards
  • Identify and give recommendations on best practice procurement tools in order to implement and develop sourcing strategies
  • Lead, manage and foster relationships with internal and external suppliers, customers, external company counterparts, industry and trade associations in order to generate best practices to continually strengthen Category Expertise
  • Develop and deploy expertise within a particular area of spend in order to achieve value for money procurement solutions and provide support to the departments as required to ensure the company's best interests are promoted and protected
  • Make sure that the contracts comply with statutory and regulatory regimes, which include the company's policies, rules and regulations
  • Contribute to performance management by continuously developing and managing relationships with IT/technology suppliers in order to build capacity, strengthen the control of the supply chain and promote a partnering approach to managing contracts
  • Ensure savings and efficiencies are achieved by leading procurement related negotiations
  • Support an overall framework for the Supplier Management process, which includes Supplier Segmentation, Supplier On-boarding, Scorecard Development, Performance Review and Joint Business Planning

The Successful Applicant

  • University degree, ideally in business or procurement or related discipline
  • Qualified in MCIPS
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience within a similar role, managing the IT category
  • Strong knowledge of category management and strategic sourcing
  • Experienced in working within a cross functional team environment or individually, while collaborating with and advising stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Fluent English (verbal and written)
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Results driven, strategic, strongly organised and able to operate within a fast paced environment with multiple priorities
  • Global experience is an asset
