Sr. Energy Policy Analyst - Sustainable Development

The Planning and Energy Policy Directorate of Qatar Petroleum is responsible for the development and implementation of energy industry strategy both for Qatar Petroleum and the State of Qatar as well as leading the investigation and development of "new energy" businesses. As the Senior Energy Policy Analyst you will play a lead role in the development and implementation of a comprehensivesustainable developmentfor the Ministry of Energy & Industry. You role will be to ensure that the energy policies of QP and the Ministry of Energy are consistent with the sustainable development principles outlined in the Qatar Vision 2030 document. You will monitor and advise on the activities and proceedings of the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (UNCSD) and assesses the impact of their decisions on QP and the energy sector in the State of Qatar. Continuously assesses the interests of Qatar's energy sector in global discussions in order to identify issues of strategic importance to the Ministry of Energy. You will take a lead role in preparing the State of Qatar's positions on sustainable development issues impacting the on energy industry.

Who we're looking for
• University Degree in Economics, development studies, environmental studies or closely related field, preferably with post-graduate qualifications.
• You will have significant experience in the field of economics, economics, development economics, environmental science, environmental policy or sustainable development - preferably exposure to with oil and gas industry programs (but might be less if the candidates has a combination of industry and senior level experience that is exceptionally well matched to the position requirements).
• Ability to formulate national positions within the context of international sustainable development negotiations and agreements.
• Expert understanding of the role of sustainable development in the future of QP and the State of Qatar.
• An expert knowledge of the various conceptual models of economic development and sustainable growth.
• Experience in the development and implementation of sustainability strategies.
• The ability to formulate and review research and development initiatives within the energy sector.
• The ability to effectively communicate complex energy and environmental issues to high-level audiences (including Ministers and Directors).
• Good personal management skills and the ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
• Must have the ability to convey highly technical concepts and ideas to a non-technical audience.
