The Planning and Energy Policy Directorate of Qatar Petroleum is responsible for the development and implementation of energy industry strategy both for Qatar Petroleum and the State of Qatar as well as leading the investigation and development of "new energy" businesses. As the Senior Energy Analyst you will play a lead role in the development and implementation of a comprehensive Renewable Energy Strategy for the Ministry of Energy & Industry. You will play a key role in developing and implementing a comprehensive Renewable Energy Strategy for the Ministry of Energy & Industry. A key part of your role will be to monitor and analyzes trends in relevant renewable energy technologies and highlight opportunities for QP and the State of Qatar in these areas. Then act as the link between the Ministry of Energy and other areas of government on issues concerning renewable energy projects and policies (e.g. the Ministry of Environment, Qatar Foundation, Kahramaa, etc).
Who we're looking for
• University Degree in Economics (or Business), Energy Studies, Renewable Energy or Engineering, preferably with post-graduate qualifications.
• You will have significant experience in the field of energy economics, energy studies, renewable energy policy or energy engineering preferably with exposure to the oil, gas and power industry (but might be less if the candidates has a combination of industry and senior level experience that is exceptionally well matched to the position requirements).
• Ability to formulate national policies.
• Firm understanding of the international energy landscape and the role that renewable energy within this landscape (both now and in the future).
• An expert technical understanding of renewable energy technologies, the policies used to promote these technologies and the impact of these technologies on fossil fuels markets.
• The ability to formulate and review research and development initiatives pertaining to renewable energy.
• The ability to effectively communicate complex issues to high-level audiences (including Ministers and Directors).
• Good personal management skills and the ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
• Must have extremely well developed mentoring and project management skills.
• Must be self-sufficient in basic computer software (Word, Excel, etc).
