What led you to recruitment from your legal background?
Having studied law, I completed some work placements with law firms and I realized that recruitment suits my skill sets much better. Being a lawyer is largely statute based and technical, whereas recruitment allows me to utilize my people skills, whilst still satisfying my fascination with the legal industry.
Why did you join PageGroup?
Upon moving to Dubai I knew it was important to join a company with a strong brand name. Being the oldest and most established recruitment company in the Middle East, Michael Page was the obvious choice.
What is most rewarding about your job?
I genuinely get a lot of satisfaction from helping my candidates secure roles that are a step up for them, both professionally and financially. There is nothing more rewarding than being thanked by a happy customer!
What skills from your background helped with your transition into recruitment?
People skills is the obvious one, but I also think that playing a lot of sport growing up gave me a level of resilience and determination - very important attributes for this job.
What advice would you give someone with a Legal background who is looking to get into recruitment?
Speak to as many people in recruitment as you can to get lots of different insights. It is a stressful job and many people simply aren’t cut out for it, but if you do well then it is incredibly rewarding and a hell of a lot of fun.
