Consultancy, Strategy and Change

Specialism title image

The UAE’s transformation agenda continues to create opportunities across Consultancy, Strategy and Change, although the market has become considerably more selective over the past year. Government entities and private-sector organisations remain focused on delivering ambitious transformation programmes, with increasing emphasis on measurable outcomes, productivity and execution rather than strategy alone.

The regional consulting market has experienced a period of significant restructuring and headcount reduction, driven partly by changing client demand and a recalibration of investment priorities across the region. This has resulted in a larger pool of experienced consulting talent competing for fewer opportunities, particularly at the mid-to-senior levels. Candidates transitioning from consulting firms have therefore faced a more competitive market than in previous years.

At the same time, demand continues for professionals who can translate strategy into practical business outcomes. Enterprise transformation, operating model optimisation, organisational effectiveness, performance improvement and digital and AI adoption remain important areas of investment. As AI moves beyond experimentation, organisations are increasingly looking for professionals who can connect technology investment with business strategy, operating models and measurable value creation.

Looking towards 2027, we expect the market to remain selective. With investment priorities continuing to evolve across the region, consulting firms are likely to remain cautious around significant headcount expansion. Within the UAE, the continued evolution of Abu Dhabi’s sovereign investment landscape and the restructuring and deployment of major assets could create new opportunities across strategy and transformation, although the scale and timing of this remains to be seen.

For candidates, demonstrating a genuine commitment to the region has become more important than ever. Employers are increasingly looking beyond previous Middle East experience and assessing candidates on their current knowledge of the UAE market, recent hands-on experience in the country and evidence of a longer-term commitment to building their career here. In a market with greater access to experienced consulting talent, relevant sector expertise, regional understanding and a strong track record of delivery are increasingly important differentiators.
