Client: Global Mega Event, UAE
Scenario:
The megaevent organising committee were looking for a recruitment partner that could facilitate the recruitment of a number of key roles within the envisaged structure. We were selected as this partner and provided the client a 4 man in-house team to service the middle management roles and took ownership of the Executive level positions, one of which was the Head of Real Estate.
Key selection criteria:
CEO, COO or MD level experience gained within a regional or international:
- Real Estate Development & Delivery entity
- Construction organisation
- Project Management Consultancy
- Complete/overall responsibility for major project completions ($1bn+) in the above role, preferably cradle to grave
- Projects had to have been of sizeable and world class standard and been executed within highly detailed and defined standards and budgets
The Outcome:
An extensive interview process was carried out by the client with the 3 selected candidates, and the successful candidate was appointed. He was a locally based individual who brought with him not only mega mixed-use development project experience, but the bonus of having worked closely with the local government which proved vital in establishing momentum in setting up the organisation.

Client: Large family conglomerate business in the UAE
Our Approach:
The approach taken for this role was a retained search and this involved:
- Market mapping of General Managers with real estate development experience
- Local branded advertising
- Extensive search of Michael Page’s International database of over 3.5 Million qualified candidates focusing on key UK and European cities
Key selection criteria:
- Degree in Architecture/engineering/real estate management
- Delivered high end, high rise hospitality projects to the market
- Proven track record of consistently delivering financial performance of an existing portfolio of real estate assets
- Proven real estate sales & marketing initiatives with solid results from these strategies
- Management of the technical / engineering development aspects and previously worked with consultancies and contractors to achieve high end results
Outcome:
The process took 7 weeks from brief to offer acceptance. The selected candidate had most recently accomplished organisational business objectives for several semi-government and high net worth clients through his own real estate consultancy practice. The 15 years prior, he had been at a Director level setting up real estate departments related to development, asset and property management services for large, notable portfolios. He remains a key driver behind the successful delivery of mixed-use mega projects and Michael Page remains a key talent partner for the client.

Key selection criteria:
- Engineering/Architectural degree
- Client side or consultancy experience leading a Technical department
- The ability to manage multiple stakeholders across all levels in the business
- Mixed-use project delivery experience, preferably elements of leisure/entertainment sector
Outcome:
The process took 8 weeks from sourcing to offer acceptance. The candidate selected had extensive experience across MEP, Structural and Civil engineering principles and had overseen the design and construction process of a number of large, notable projects. The journey from architectural consultancy to the last 6 years in a client side environment meant this candidate had the ideal skillset to run a technical department complimented by a hardworking nature that was a perfect fit for our client.
