Job Description

  • Design, develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Python.
  • Build and own services supporting trade execution and related workflows.
  • Integrate with brokerage platforms and other third-party APIs.
  • Build safe and reliable external integrations with appropriate authorisation, failure handling and traceability.
  • Design and optimise PostgreSQL schemas and queries, ensuring data integrity, security and performance.
  • Work closely with frontend and DevOps engineers to build, deploy and monitor production applications.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and improve system latency, reliability and operational performance.
  • Write automated tests and maintain clean, production-quality code.
  • Take ownership of backend services while contributing across adjacent product areas when required.
  • Use AI coding tools as part of the software development lifecycle to develop, investigate and validate changes.
  • Work with product and AI teams where applications or agents need to interact safely with execution services.

The Successful Applicant

  • 3-10 years' experience in backend software engineering.
  • Experience within financial services, trading, trade execution or Order Management Systems (OMS) is preferred but not required.
  • Strong hands on Python development experience.
  • Strong experience building and supporting production HTTP APIs and production experience with PostgreSQL.
  • Comfortable debugging complex production APIs and third party integrations.
  • Strong understanding of reliability, performance and failure handling in production systems.
  • Full stack, SRE/DevOps or AI application experience is advantageous.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
