What led you to recruitment from your background in Engineering?

As Engineer, I am passionate about the sciences and I got the opportunity to work with a key player in the aircraft industry. However, I realised that I needed a positon in which I can use and develop both my engineering expertise and my sales ability. That is why I decided to join PageGroup first as Consultant then Senior Manager within the Engineering Division.

Why did you join PageGroup?

In 2010 I had never heard about Michael Page before. I was approached by the Engineering and Manufacturing Director, who was also an Engineer and who introduced me to the company. I was sold on the idea. To have the opportunity to build a business with a reputable player in the sector and to develop an industrial expertise in my region was an exciting challenge.

What is most rewarding about your job?

The ability to build a business and a team in a very short time is what gives me a sense of achievement at the end of the day.

What skills from your background in Engineering helped with your transition into recruitment?

Having a background in the same field we are recruiting for helps give credibility with both the clients and candidates which is a strong advantage compared to our competitors. Furthermore, my engineering network helps in developing the business.

What advice would you give someone with an Engineering background who wanted a job in recruitment?

I would advise them to get a deep understanding about the job and the potential career path/growth to make sure that they have the right skills.
